TETHERED & LETDOWN

Ceramic glazed vessel with felt, sequins, glass beads and pearls

My two ceramic pieces, Tethered and Letdown, emerged during my recent postpartum experience. They are meditations on shifting hormones and the growing catalog of emotional paradoxes that accompany matrescence.

Macrocosm

February 1-28, 2022

Art Society of Kingston in Kingston, NY

Macrocosm is inspired by the microscopic cellular structures within every living organism. Using glass beads, wool and polymer clay, Brit Schmid stitches intricate representations of these often unseen and overlooked worlds.

“The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself."
